The next generation technology for treating varicose veins is here. La Jolla Vein Care is pleased to announce its newest device for treating unsightly, bulging veins of the legs- the Venefit™ procedure. Dr. Oz Show Highlights Foam Sclerotherapy Treatment for Varicose Veins

2021-12-27T14:27:47-08:00

The June 1st episode of The Dr. Oz Show brought attention to foam sclerotherapy. He describes it as the latest, most advanced technology to eradicate painful, varicose veins. Dr. Oz’s guest demonstrated how the procedure is performed: He used a vein light to visualize the veins, followed by a painless injection of a foamed solution. He also mentions that the old Varicose Vein Treatments hurt because of the saline solution that used to be used, but newer solutions such as polidocanol, are nearly painless.

We’re pleased that Dr. Oz brought much need attention to foam sclerotherapy, as we have been using it as an alternative to surgery for years. What most people don’t realize is that foam sclerotherapy is not new, but rather newly recognized. Foam sclerotherapy offers patients a non-surgical alternative for the treatment of varicose veins. There is essentially no down-time and return to normal activities is immediate.

Newest Technology for Treating Spider Veins

2011-04-15T23:05:40-07:00

La Jolla Vein Care is pleased to announce its newest device for treating small spider veins—The VeinWave. This device uses radiofrequency energy to destroy spider veins with a high degree of precision, thus making it easier than ever to remove unsightly veins on the face or legs. The VeinWave is considerably more advanced than laser technology because it capable of pinpointing the damaged vein with greater precision, keeping the surrounding skin unharmed. By focusing specifically on the damaged vein, patients can eliminate the sunburn appearance that often results after laser treatments.

laser vein ablation

Endovenous laser vein ablation therapy (EVLT) uses a tiny catheter to seal incompetent veins shut.

La Jolla Vein Care is excited to introduce the VNUS Closure procedure to its patients. This procedure is also known as radiofrequency ablation (RFA). The procedure is minimally invasive—and it’s an advanced alternative to laser treatment. The result? Better outcomes with less pain and less bruising. In particular, this procedure is beneficial when there is venous insufficiency present in the Greater Saphenous and Small Saphenous veins, making it clear that the next wave of technology for vein treatment is here—and it’s at La Jolla Vein Care.

This is another picture, of before and after treatment with radiofrequency ablation in combination with foam sclerotherapy at La Jolla Vein Care.

Peak Performance

2010-09-16T02:48:47-07:00

Compression stockings are known for improving circulation after the removal of varicose veins. But can they improve athletic performance? The answer is a resounding yes. According to Medi, compression sport stockings are clinically proven in increase performance. Over the course of a marathon, for example, running time is reduced by approximately five minutes while the exertion on your muscles is reduced by roughly six percent. Moreover, a study by Technische Universität Dresden reveals that blood circulation is 30% higher at rest after engaging in certain athletic activities when wearing compression sport stockings. So whether you’re a jogger checking out the scenery or a hard-core athlete training for a marathon, there’s something to help you reach your peak.

Getting Results

2010-08-27T23:41:57-07:00

Compression is important part of the overall healing process. As a result, you’ll need to wear compression stockings following the treatment to ensure you get the best outcomes. Physiologically, compression therapy increases venous blood flow back to the heart, reduces reflux in diseased veins, increases venous blood flow, reduces elevated water content of the tissue, reduces inflammation, and sustains reparative processes. In short, compression therapy not only improves results after treatment, but it also improves blood flow and reduces symptoms and swelling in the legs. Get treated, start healing, and get good results.

Symptom Relief

2010-08-26T01:05:03-07:00

While varicose veins are not preventable, there are certain things you can do to ease the pain. With mild symptoms, it’s often good to exercise lightly (e.g., walking, bicycling, swimming, etc.). This allows you to strengthen your leg muscles to help push blood back to the heart. With exercise on your mind, it’s also good to work towards maintaining your ideal body weight. If you’re looking for immediate relief, please note that properly fitted elastic hose with the compression level by recommended by your physician can help you manage the symptoms. While only a vein specialist can tell you exactly what to do based on your specific condition, you can take a few small steps towards easing your symptoms in the meantime. If you’re in the office while reading this post, perhaps you might want to lean back and relax. After all, elevating your legs is another way to control your symptoms.

Beautiful Legs

2010-08-25T01:16:47-07:00

Keeping your legs beautiful might require a little help. Varicose veins, for example, affect a large number of people around the world every year. In the United States alone, up to 55% of women are likely to experience vein-related problems in their legs. Today, varicose veins are easily treated through a procedure called sclerotherapy. As your veins disappear after treatment, you might want to know if they’re gone for good. While properly treated veins are removed permanently, new veins may eventually appear. Why? Different veins (that were not previously treated) may have weak valves that give over time, eventually resulting in new varicose veins. The good news? These veins can be easily removed using the same treatment. Take comfort in knowing you can easily remove your varicose veins now—and that you have a safe and easy option for keeping your legs beautiful for the rest of your life.

Sincerely,

Skin Deep?

2010-08-24T01:08:14-07:00

An estimated 80 million Americans suffer from a vein-related condition. Since most veins lie deep under the skin’s surface, vein disorders are not always visible to the naked eye. As a result, it’s important to be aware of the symptoms that might reveal an underlying vein condition. If you’re experiencing pain, fatigue, heaviness, cramping, or restlessness in your legs, you should seek expert consultation. Today, a venous duplex scan is used to view internal images of your veins, even the veins beneath the muscles (deep veins). The ultrasound exam, which is painless and takes fewer than 30 minutes, allows a trained specialist to examine your venous system to determine if your symptoms are connected to a vein-related condition. The good news is that many vein conditions can be easily treated. Often, you just need to look beneath the surface to get moving in the right direction.
